To rent a motorcycle, you do need to be at least 25 years old, have a valid motorcycle license, motorcycle/automobile insurance, and prior real motorcycle experience of course.
We are a local family owned small business, not some big corporation with a huge fleet of the more typical rental motorcycles. We operate a limited number of motorcycles, that grew out of our love and collection of a variety of 2-wheeled machines. We often like what many people consider more non-typical bikes, and exclusive/unusual brands that we feel are special.
Once we decided to offer daily motorcycle rentals, we wanted to offer both dual-sport and street machines. But we also wanted offer easy-riding motorcycles, in both of those categories. Because that will offer you, our visitors to the area, a ride where you can enjoy our spectacular surroundings, and geography, as opposed to try to figure out a new complicated machine, that you only have for a limited time.
Yet, we still we want you to ride something fun and non-typical. That, is the reason why the bikes you see on here, are more unusual and not what is typically available for rent at other places. We picked them because we really love them, and we think you will too!
Please take good care of your rental. They are not part of some big fleet program, We picked and paid for every single one of them because we love them. So we expect you to show extra care to avoid damage and scratches etc.
In order for you to be sure, that the bike of your choice will be available when you want to pick it up, we strongly suggest that you reserve it here online, or, by calling us with a credit card.
Please understand that without a paid reservation, we can not hold , or even promise you that any bike will be available when you show up.
Can you just call us the day you want to ride? Sure, but please don't be upset if we do not have what you want to suddenly rent, or in some cases - anything at all!
So, please reserve your wanted bike in advance. If your plans change, you can certainly cancel that reservation, please see below.
If you have a reservation, and need to cancel it for whatever reason, we have no problem offering you a 100% refund, as long as the cancellation is provided more than 72 hours in advance of your pick-up, and acknowledged by us.
If less than 72 hours in advance, but still more than 48 hours in advance, a 75% refund will be provided. Even if cancelled only 48 hours in advance, we will still offer you a 50% refund.
We will not issue refunds on any cancellations (or no-shows) made less than 24hrs in advance, since we makes sure the bike of your choice is serviced, fueled and cleaned prior to pick-up. In addition, because it deprived other customers the opportunity to reserve/ride that day, and that would not be fair.
In addition to having a valid motorcycle license, you will need to provide proof of insurance. Whether automobile, or full coverage motorcycle insurance, make sure that you are covered when renting a bike. We only provide minimal liability insurance (as mandated by CA law), anything above and beyond that, is your responsibility, so make sure you are covered.
Resident of a different country? If you do not currently have existing US Insurance Coverage to rent a motorcycle from us, you can place your reservation through Twisted Road, as they will provide you with insurance coverage, as part of you placing the rental booking through their platform. Some of our clients, especially visitors from other nations, choose this option.
Most of our rental bike models are in fact available for you to rent on the Twisted Road platform as well. So please visit; https://www.twistedroad.com/users/desert-moto-rentals as it can resolve your insurance coverage concerns. If you have any questions about this, just give us a call!
Remember, your are financially responsible for any damage to the bike you are renting, and for anything that you damage while renting it, so insurance is a must.
Know your riding limits. If you choose to ride off-pavement, understand that the risk of damaging the bike increases substantially. The desert has areas and trails with deep sand, making it very difficult to ride, unless you have extensive experience. Do not underestimate the difficulty of the terrain, nor overestimate your abilities, as an off-road rider! You are responsible for any damage caused to the bike, or other rental equipment.
We do offer expert training in off-road 2-wheeled riding, as well as Private Guide services. Please let us know if that is something you would like to participate in.
We include 150 miles/day when you rent a bike from us. Miles above that will be charged at $0.50/mi. This applies to all of our rentals.
Please note, we can not permit any of our motorcycles to enter Mexico.
is our "off season". Do do rent bikes, but work by appointment only here in the office. Please call us prior to visit.
